The Indian Cinema, or Bollywood as most commonly referred to, is gaining popularity worldwide. Bollywood films are watched in almost every country and its silver screen actors have become brand ambassadors the world over; several of them are making their way to Hollywood now. Bollywood music and dances have entertained audiences and catchy songs called ‘item numbers’ have been a part of their movies.

Turkish authorities arrested a 28-year-old woman who killed her husband with his handgun. She insisted that she was defending her “honor.” Her husband had allegedly beaten, drugged and abused her. Read more here, and other news about women that made it to the headlines.

Even though female genital mutilation (FGM) is internationally recognized as a violation of human right it is still practiced on babies and young girls in many countries because the misconceptions surrounding FGM are deeply rooted in traditions reaching back many generations.
