Sascha Lobo’s Movie Pick
“I’ve got to think about that,” he says. “The problem is that I always say the last film I liked was my favourite.” But then he comes up with a selection that I’d never heard of. It’s called The Colour of Magic and it’s an adaptation of two novels from the Discworld series that was created by the hugely successful British fantasy writer Terry Pratchett.
Stephanie Bschorr’s Movie Pick
Stephanie Bschorr clearly has a good mind for business. She co-runs a very successful auditing company and she’s the president of the Association of German Women Entrepreneurs. But when it comes to movies she clearly wants emotions, big emotions. Films that have a broad canvas. Among recent offerings, she enjoyed Quentin Tarantino’s splatterfest Django Unchained. And in the running for Stephanie’s FMOAT is Lars von Trier’s 1996 rollercoaster Breaking the Waves.

Michael Hoffmann’s Movie Pick
The curse of the chef, says Michael Hoffmann. He simply doesn’t have as much time as he’d like for things like the movies. But he did recently see Lincoln. Approvingly, I sense. And then, he says, there is one movie that he particularly likes: Sergio Leone’s bloody masterpiece: Once Upon a Time in America.
A testing time with Michael Hoffmann
food for thought

He looked somehow concerned. Of course, running a business like his can’t be easy: “Yes there’s a lot of pressure. Of course, you always have to get it right,” he admits. But: “I have good people who take charge when I’m not there.” And: “Ich bin frei – I’m free. No banks involved, no loans, no obligations.” It’s Michael Hoffmann talking. Master chef at the Michelin-starred Margaux – one of Berlin’s leading restaurants – and my latest guest on Talking Germany.
